Four upcoming events:
- Next Tuesday, 2/2 our Pep Band will play for the basketball game. It is again the ‘Green’ Band’s turn. Please be in the band room by 6pm.
- New Concert Added! Next Wednesday, 2/3 @ 7:30pm in the band room. Come see our Mingus Combo before they leave for NYC on the 11th. Two Arden MS combos will open the concert.
- Our Winter Concert, featuring our three fabulous concert bands will be held on Tuesday, 2/9 at 7pm in Rio’s Betty Miller Theater. It’s free and open to the public. See you here!
- Our next Small Ensemble (Smamble) Night will be Wednesday, 2/10 at 7pm in the band room.

Rio Band Families,
Two important events occurring January 26th –
- Drummer and Composer Bryan Carter will be a Guest Artist during 2nd, 3rd and 4th periods. All band students are welcome to attend each period, but will not be excused from their academic classes.
- Our Pep Band is performing for the basketball game tomorrow night. It is a ‘Green’ game. All ‘Green’ musicians are required to attend the game, or arrange for a sub. No exceptions. Please make sure to arrive to the band room by 6pm. The Green Band is also scheduled to play for the basketball game next Tuesday, 2/2.

Rio Band Families,
Our AM, PM and FM Jazz Ensembles, as well as two combos participated in the Folsom Jazz Festival on Saturday. It was another banner day for Rio Band. The results-
AM took 1st place in AAA division
FM took 1st Place in B division
Combo 1 took first place
Combo 2 took 2nd place
Duncan McElman was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to the Stanford Summer Jazz program.
